The Whole Story

Growing in the open fields are many flowers and plants. Inside the plant, seeds will begin to sprout big and strong! Each seed is considered a “Kernel.” There’s 3 parts within every seed and they’re responsible for giving us: Antioxidants, Phytonutrients, Fiber, Proteins, Starchy Carbs, Minerals, Vitamin B & Other Vitamins. A Whole Grain is the entire seed of a plant. Whole Grains are found in many things we all enjoy eating. From breakfast, lunch, dinner ~ and even some snacks! It has been recommended to have a serving of Whole Grains; daily. Here’s a few items to look for, the next time you’re going grocery shopping:

  • Brown & Wild Rice
  • Bulgur (Cracked Wheat)
  • Millet
  • Popcorn
  • Quinoa
  • Whole-Grain Barley
  • Whole Oats & Oatmeal
  • Whole Rye
